What is the PQC System?

The PQC system, initiated by the Queensland Government, aims to enhance the tendering process and reduce costs for clients, consultants, and contractors involved in government projects. It serves as a register for businesses prequalified to meet specific health and safety standards set by the government. This system ensures that only compliant contractors and consultants can participate in significant government projects, streamlining the selection process for qualified service providers.

Who Needs to Participate in the PQC System?

Building Contractors:

Contractors directly engaged in Queensland Government building projects valued at over $1 million.

Key Trade or Specialist Contractors:

Any key trade or specialist contractors involved in projects exceeding $1 million.

Building Consultants:

Building consultants who are directly commissioned on Queensland Government projects must apply for prequalification if their service risk rating is classified as 3 or 4, or if the fee for their services is $60,000 or more.

PQC Auditor Engagement

For Queensland government projects valued over $1 million, the contractor must engage a PQC Auditor. The auditor's role includes reviewing the project’s Safety Management Plan and conducting quarterly site inspections throughout the project's duration.
